John Charles is a former professional athlete turned President, entrepreneur, civic leader, and public speaker dedicated to community empowerment and transformative leadership. As Executive Director of The Academy for Prevention, Intervention, and Recovery Services(The Academy for PIR), he leads initiatives that strengthen families, guide youth, and promote long-term wellness and recovery. John also serves as Vice Chair of the City of Prineville’s Budget Committee, Owner and Chef of John John’s Barbecue Sauce, and a Board Member of Better Together, where he champions collaboration, inclusion, and equitable opportunity. Additionally, he serves on the Oregon Community Foundation’s Leadership Council, helping to guide philanthropic efforts that strengthen communities across Oregon.
Greg Remsburg

Greg Remsburg is a resourceful and results-oriented Construction Manager with over 30 years of experience leading commercial and residential projects from conception to completion. Skilled in project management, financial operations, and employee relations, with a proven track record of delivering on time and within budget. Known for strong communication in high-pressure environments, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to build trusted relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
As one of the original members of Discovery’s #1 hit series, ‘Gold Rush’, Greg’s television experience has carried over into the work sector where he is known for being an exceptional Project and Facilities Manager with a talent for unifying people toward common goals and achieving exceptional outcomes. Detail-oriented and proactive, with a deep understanding of contracts, milestones, and performance benchmarks. A strong leader and motivator who recognizes and cultivates individual strengths to maximize team success. Beyond work, an active community member, coach, carpenter, and proud parent, committed to the belief that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary results through teamwork and integrity.
Viany Garcia
Treasurer
Viany Garcia is a Community Market Specialist with First Interstate Bank who is passionate about supporting youth, families, and the overall wellbeing of her community. Her work centers on building meaningful relationships, engaging with others, and coaching people toward positive outcomes.
Born and raised in Central Oregon, Viany is now raising her three boys there with her husband and feels deeply connected to the community she calls home. Being involved locally and helping others is important to her, both personally and professionally. Her core values of growth and understanding guide her day-to-day life—from parenting to her work, where she coaches and supports others. Viany believes that taking the time to understand where people come from and their “why” is essential to creating real, lasting change.
Through her professional experience, lived perspective, and strong community ties, Viany brings a compassionate, community-centered voice. She is dedicated to supporting efforts that promote prevention, resilience, and recovery, and to helping young people and families build healthier, more hopeful futures.
Calista Songstad

Calista Songstad is a small business owner, wife, and mother dedicated to education and community advocacy. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration and certifications in Supply Chain Management, Import/Export, and Health Coaching, with extensive experience in management, logistics, accounting, and grant writing. For the past six years, she has been actively involved in state-level legislation while homeschooling her four sons. Calista lives in Prineville, Oregon, with her husband and children and is committed to serving her community through education and advocacy.
Jenniffer Grant
Board Member
Jenniffer Grant is a dedicated marketing manager, passionate volunteer, and talented jewelry artist. She is dedicated to community awareness, growth, prevention and kindness. Honored with the 2021 Volunteer of the Year Award by the Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce in Madras, she has led community efforts as captain of a Relay for Life team for over eight years and served on the Luminaries Committee and being a mentor for other non profits.
Having overcome years of childhood abuse and growing up in a home affected by addiction, Jenniffer now uses her voice to advocate for children’s safety and well-being. When she’s not giving back or creating art, she loves hiking, being in the woods and spending time by the lake with her kids and family. Guided by compassion and positivity, Jenniffer strives every day to be the change she wishes to see in the world.
Cecilia Ledford
Board Member
Cecilia Ledford is a Marine Corps veteran and passionate community advocate dedicated to creating inclusive, supportive spaces. After earning a B.S. in Hospitality and a second bachelor’s in Kinesiology from Oregon State University–Cascades, she completed Yoga Teacher training through the Veterans Yoga Project, a Cancer Exercise Specialist certification, and her 2024 Community Health Worker certification from Central Oregon Community College. Cecilia gives back by leading classes for the Veterans Future Foundation and finds joy in yoga, nature, and time with her family.
